Joseph & Grace Noh

Together we serve as pastors of prayer at HRock Church. We have led the weekly Morning Prayer meetings since 2007. We also lead prayer on Sunday mornings during the first service at the Student Center. Not only are we so thankful to start the workday with prayer, but we also love the wonderful community we have in the morning prayer times.

Joseph

I have a heart and passion for evangelism. My vision is to see a Gideon prayer force of 300 intercessors raised up to pray and intercede on behalf of Los Angeles, California and the world.

Personal Background

I was born in Seoul, South Korea, but my family and I immigrated to NYC when I was 4 years old. I then grew up in New York.

Education Background

- B.A. from Masters College in Organizational Management
- M.Div. from Fuller Seminary
- Teaching Credential from Cal State LA

Interests and Favorites

My favorite movie is Star Wars, and I love martial arts. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Life Verse

Joshua 1:9 (NIV) – "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."

Grace

Personal Background

I was born in Korea and moved to New York City with my family when I was 12 years old. My parents were an excellent example of prayer life and family worship. With my father becoming a missionary later in his life and my brother becoming a missions pastor at Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in New York, I am able to have a broader perspective in worldwide missions as Pastor Ché and HIM are so involved.  The need for prayer is felt so personally! As we have been involved in prayer ministry for many years already at HRock Church, we have had the privilege of witnessing many great things that God has done through our prayers.

Education Background

  • Bachelors in Psychology from New York University
  • Masters in Counseling Psychology from New York University
  • School Psychology Credential from Cal State LA
  • Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Seminary
  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Seminary

Interests and Favorites

I have a heart for the next generation, and I want to teach young adults and parents on training up young minds in order to raise up a godly generation. This desire is closely tied to a heart for families and marriages to stay strong.

Favorite passage

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” – (Isaiah 55:8-9). It’s so good to know that whatever we think is great, God has greater things in mind, and we can trust Him that He knows what is best for us better than we do!

Fun Fact

Joseph and I drive every weekday in the early morning over the mountain from Glendale to Pasadena. When we reach the top of the mountain, we turn on the high beams and look for cottontail bunnies. We count how many bunnies there are eating grass in the dark of the early morning. We have counted as many as eight at one time, and we get excited to see them. We do run across other animals, such as deer, coyotes and foxes. It’s fun driving to church early in the morning!
