Serve Pasadena

Serve Pasadena exists to fulfill the Great Commission by sharing the love of Jesus with the Greater Pasadena Community. At HRock Church, we seek to build God’s Kingdom on earth by reaching and serving those in need and by helping to build strong families and communities. We invite you to partner with us in reaching our neighbors with Christ’s love. Below you’ll find a variety of opportunities to get involved. Whatever your gifts or passion may be, there is a place for you to make a difference.

HRock advanced the Kingdom in 2014 by:

  • Hanging door knockers and praying a blessing over 60,000 homes in Pasadena as we participated with other churches in the community
  • Providing Special Entertainment for the 2 year Anniversary of Meal Program at Villa Parke
  • Serving  over 1800 meals at the Community Center
  • Hosting Councilman Steve Madison and 100 of our District 6 neighbors for CERT training with the Pasadena Fire Department
  • Volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Clinic and raising  $1,000 in the baby bottle drive.
  • Raising 1700 pieces of Candy and manning 5 game booths at the Victory Park Harvest Festival
  • Giving over 200 pairs of socks and  40lbs of toiletries to the underserved at Villa Parke
  • Facilitating a donation of 150 TSA  jackets to the Salvation Army

Serve Community Meals
Serve Community Meals

We serve donated meals at Villa-Parke Community Center on the third and fourth Thursday of the month. We help set up, serve and tear down. Hours are from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The opportunity to serve on the first and second week of the month is also available for those who have served on the third or fourth week. Contact info@hrockchurch.com for an application.

We go as servants to love the people, look them in the eye and smile as we serve them. We listen to their stories and offer to pray with them if they share a need.

For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invite me into your home. - Matthew 25:35 (NLT)

Preparedness Response Team
Preparedness Response Team

This team is headed by Joel Gay with the intent to equip a core group of individuals from HRock Church who can proficiently deal with disasters. The goal is to develop and train these people to make them knowledgeable about how to prepare for any future disaster, what to do during a disaster and how to assist in the cleanup and reconstruction efforts after a disaster.

We have hosted two trainings at the Ambassador by the Pasadena Fire Department. Joel Gay went through training and is a Certified Volunteer for the City of Pasadena in the event of a disaster. An architect by trade, Gay has a passion to build a Preparedness Response Team for our city that will eventually grow to be able to reach out to the nations. He did this in his previous church in Florida and helped with cleanup and rebuilding after Katrina.

The first training in a series of 7 sessions will take place January 24, 2015 in U-5 from 9 to 11AM in the Judson building at 1610 E. Elizabeth St.

Please contact Joel at ServePasadena@gmail.com if you are interested in serving in this area.

Tutoring and Mentoring
Tutoring and Mentoring

The Lake Avenue Foundation is another area that Serve Pasadena is partnering with as we build the the nets for the Harvest!

The Foundation desires to see children succeed in learning, and you can be a part of that success. Volunteers offer one-on-one mentoring or after-school tutoring for younger kids at the Villa Homework House. While short-term and long-term commitments are available, the Lake Avenue Foundation asks for an 18-month commitment so the youth you are assigned to know you care about them and are committed.

The Lake Ave Foundation provides the training for the program.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6

Pregnancy Care Clinic
Pregnancy Care Clinic

We can support life by volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Clinic on 445 N. Lake Ave. We need volunteers, support and handyman help.

We launched a four-week baby bottle drive at the Cell Faire on Sept. 14. We had a representative from the clinic at our Serve Pasadena table who handed baby bottles so they can be filled with change and returned within four weeks. Donations promote life and keep the clinic open. This clinic is the only one of its kind in this area.

Please contact Louise May if you have any questions or are interested in serving in this area.

You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book! - Psalm 139:16 (TLB)
