\n \n

I recently went to a dance performance by a well-known company, known both for its artistic accomplishment and the skill of the dancers. I enjoyed every moment: the choreography, the music, the emotion, the athleticism, the humor. There was one moment in particular where a statuesque male dancer stands still as his female partner comes running and then leaping toward him. He catches her—making the whole thing appear effortless—never having to brace himself, never having leaned into the jump. It was an act of great strength coming from hours of disciplined practice.

\n \n

We don’t often appreciate what goes into the strength of such a moment. The ability to stand and respond to a force that is moving toward you without losing ground or composure comes from discipline. Paul speaks to such discipline in the letter to the Ephesians when he describes the components of a soldier’s armor:

\n \n

Ephesians 6:13 – “Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”

\n \n

No soldier goes to battle without training and then suiting up. Every component has a place and a purpose for our well-being. The weapons we’ve been given are useless if we don’t learn to stand our ground. No piece of armor can replace the steadfastness of the heart within.

\n \n

Paul’s description of the armor comes at the end of a long letter about learning to live and love God. Paul counsels his friends to rid themselves of sin, bitterness and anger toward one another. He tells them they must walk in love and leave corruption behind them.

\n \n

If we are going to stand, it must first begin with a purified heart. A heart strengthened by mercy, grace and uncompromising love for God. A heart of love is the strength to stand in every battle. The weapons of our warfare are powerful; they are wielded by powerful sons and daughters that carry the heart of Jesus.

I’m back home after a wonderful trip to Germany and Egypt!

\n \n

During the first leg of my time abroad, I flew into Frankfurt, Germany, and spent three days at Christliches Zentrum Wiesbaden.

\n \n

\n\"My

\n \n

I saw some of the city of Wiesbaden with Pastor Andreas Herrmann.

\n \n

\n\"My

\n \n

I was glad to visit Pastor Andreas' church located in the greater Frankfurt area. Christliches Zentrum Wiesbaden is a new partner of Harvest International Ministry (HIM). The Kingdom of heaven is invading Europe!

I always love sharing a meal with amazing pastors and friends in their homeland.

\n \n

\n\"My

\n \n

I got a glimpse of Germany's rich history when we passed by a few castles!

\n \n

\nAfter my stay in Germany, I took off for Egypt, where I had the awesome opportunity to stay for four days last week (April 20 to 24) and partner with Yvette Isaac.

\n \n

\n\"My

\n \n

As President of Roads of Success (ROS) and HIM's Apostle to the Middle East, Yvette has launched many relief missions around the globe throughout the years.

\n \n \n

Last month, Jacqueline Isaac, the Vice President of ROS, was featured in an interview with ABC and had the chance to share her heart for the women who have lived through the atrocities of ISIS. Jacqueline has dedicated herself to seek asylum and rehabilitation for the rape victims of ISIS in Iraq. What a testimony of God's work in the earth today!

We hosted three nights of ministry in Cairo, and each meeting was packed! One of the venues was a 2,500-seat church, and in the other building, people were even standing outside just to hear through the windows and open doors!

\n \n

I saw such hunger in Egypt; people who were deaf now could hear, the blind saw, and many others who had suffered from chronic pain and discomfort were healed. My favorite part was witnessing more than 20 first-time converts give their lives to Jesus.

When the Israelites left Egypt, they left in such a hurry that they took their kneading bowls filled with unbaked, unleavened dough. The Lord had instructed them to make bread without leaven, the fermenting yeast that makes bread rise and spread, puffing it up. There would be no time to linger and wait; they needed to get out. Now. This was the bread of deliverance. It wasn’t to contain elements that puffed it up. Unleavened bread remained a symbol of the Passover, a reminder of God’s delivering work that changed their lives in a moment.

\n \n

We cannot drag the sins of the past season into our new season. Deliverance is a quickening into a new relationship with God. We cannot linger in the land of our slavery. We see this in the life of Joseph, who left temptation so quickly he left his outer garment in the hand of his temptress.

\n \n

Jesus warned His disciples about influences that will change their nature; He called it leaven. When we linger in places that enslave us, those influences will act like leaven in our heart and change the whole of our nature.

\n \n

Quit lingering in the past and move quickly into the new season of worship and devotion with the Lord. Get free of the entanglements that will bind you, and flee into purity and passion for Jesus! We cannot compromise with temptation; we cannot linger in territories dominated by the worship of false gods, sexual indulgence, self-promotion, stealing from others through deception.

\n \n

Run toward freedom and don’t look back! The bread of God’s Presence is always unleavened bread, emptied of worldly influences. This is the Bread of Life that Christ will be for us. Let us partake of His pure, sustaining Presence and be free of lesser gods.

\n \n

It truly was an incredible week! My friends Bill & Beni Johnson, Georgian & Winnie Banov, John Arnott, Randy Clark and Rolland Baker all came together and released the love of God and the power of His Spirit in our midst.

\n \n

\n\"Revival

\n \n

Cory Asbury joined us for the first time and kicked off the conference with adoration of our Savior and Holy Spirit's joy!
\n

\"Revival

\n \n

John Arnott shared about how God’s Spirit has moved in revival history, and he imparted revelation about the increasing glory of God. Check out a highlight from one of his messages!

\n \n

\n\"Revival

\n \n

Georgian and Winnie Banov livened up the afternoon sessions by releasing Holy Spirit joy and affirming the truth about our identity in Christ!
\n

\n\"Revival

\n \n

As a result of Heidi Baker not being able to speak at the conference (she was in Tennessee with her newborn granddaughter!), we had the pleasure of hearing Beni Johnson. As a "Grandma With Muscles," Beni spoke on how to live a healthy lifestyle and walk in wellness both physically and spiritually, and I think her message was likely the most significant word of the whole conference!

\n\"Revival

\n \n

Bill then shared a message on the faith-filled life in the Kingdom of God.
\n

\n \n

\"Revival

\n \n

On Saturday afternoon, Rolland Baker ministered under Holy Spirit's joy and emphasized the importance of an intimate heart attitude in your relationship with Jesus.

\n \n

During the final night of the conference, our special guest Shawn Bolz opened up the evening session with a flow of prophetic words straight from God's heart.

\n \n

\n\"Revival

\n \n

After Shawn flowed in the prophetic, I shared about how we can honor the Holy Spirit and host God’s presence well as He releases revival.

Revival Alliance 2015 was such a blessing! This anointed group of fathers and mothers in the Church have acted as catalysts of revival throughout the years, and I believe that as we follow the Lord, we'll continue to go “from glory to glory” (2 Cor. 3:18). The best is yet to come!

This last week was an exciting time at HRock Church! On Resurrection Sunday, we had an amazing Easter production called “Redeemed” performed on stage during both services. Then in the latter half of the week, we hosted our annual Revival Alliance Conference 2015, as my good friends—Bill & Beni Johnson, Georgian & Winnie Banov, John Arnott, Randy Clark and Rolland Baker—gathered together to see God's Kingdom come in Pasadena, Calif.!

\n \n

On Easter Sunday, many were moved by the performance of "Redeemed." I am proud to say that my son, Gabriel, wrote and directed the entire play! The production was powerful and struck the chords of many hearts in the auditorium—we saw more than 50 people receive salvation that morning!

If you are a bug-loving, worm-saving, insect advocate—then go no further. You won’t like what I have to say next.

\n \n

One night as I walked toward my bedroom, I noticed a dark blotch on the carpet in the dim light. I wondered what I might have dropped on the floor. Unfortunately, it moved. Drat. As I quickly moved to the kitchen for the flyswatter and paper towels, I looked over my shoulder to check on the progress of the spot as it moved along the carpet. Grabbing my trusty weapons, I prayerfully muttered, “Lord, please give my enemy into my hand.” While this may not be the most noble or righteous application of Scripture, it's certainly an effective one.

\n \n

When spiders are crawling across my pillow, this is by far my favorite prayer. I miss only when I fail to pray it. Though I am grateful for the variety of God’s creation, there are some boundary lines over which bugs forfeit their rights. I will enforce territorial boundaries to keep my home pest-free.

\n \n

While this illustration lacks a lot of tact, you get my point. The Word of God is a powerful weapon. We need to remember this in far more important battles with “bugs” that are much bigger.

\n \n

Hebrews 4:12 – “The Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword...”

\n \n

There are some territorial lines in our hearts that need to be kept pest-free. We cannot tolerate trespassers. In Song of Songs, the Lord referred to these as the “little foxes that spoil the vine.” These are the little things in our life that will ruin the intimacy of our relationship with Jesus: hidden sin. If we do not cut it out, it will set up residence and make our lives barren.

\n \n

God’s Word comes first to work on us. We cannot transform the world around us, if we’ve not first been transformed. Let’s take up the weapons of kingdom warfare and take out the enemy. Let’s enforce righteous boundaries and refuse to tolerate trespassers in our hearts.

\nIn my last blog, I gave a recap of my time in Singapore, as the Lord was pouring out His Spirit and bringing healing to this nation! This week I’d like to continue the story and share a little about the second part of my journey going to Indonesia.
\n
\nWhen I was still in Singapore, I picked up the local newspaper and read that Lee Kuan Yew, the founder of modern-day Singapore and current prime minister, was in critical condition. At the time, I felt in my spirit that he was going to pass away, but I didn’t share that openly (just with my daughter Mary). What I did express was that the In Pursuit Conference 2015 was a very historical conference. I found out on Monday that at 3:18 AM that morning, Prime Minister Lee has passed away—the day after the conference ended. I felt this transition in the nation of Singapore was significant as it coincided with our time ministering there.
\n
\nAfter hopping into a plane and venturing over to Indonesia, I then took part in Kingdom Advance 2015 in Jakarta. One afternoon during the conference, Shawn Bolz was teaching on transformation and going to the next level with God. Out of nowhere, a beautiful butterfly flew into the auditorium and landed at his feet. Shawn stopped as we all noticed the butterfly. Then it went over to Sean Feucht, who was playing background music at the time, and landed on his arm. Now the 1,500-plus people in the auditorium were mesmerized by this unique creature! This scene really spoke to me about how God is bringing transformation and taking us into a new season—another prophetic image during my trip that was pointing to a change of season. All of us who were present at the time bore witness that we are now in a new season of revival!

I was struggling through a difficult physical workout the other day. The difficulty was such that I thought I wouldn’t get through it. As I pressed on, I thought seriously about quitting. How much could I really do? When would I just need to give up? It was at that moment I heard the voice of the coach say to me, “Come on. Keep going. You can do it.” I pressed forward, even slowly. I endured to the end.

\n \n

Life gets like that. The difficulty of relationships or financial burdens makes us think about giving up. Unexpected and unwelcomed health problems tax us physically and emotionally. There are times when we just don’t know how to keep going. We don’t know if we have it in us to finish.

\n \n

This is the place where we need hope the most. We need to hear the voice of our heavenly coach reminding us that we can do it: “Don’t give up—you can do this. I am here for you. I won’t give up on you.”

\n \n

“We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself.” – Hebrews 6:19 (Passion Translation)

\n \n

I’ve thought that my ability to hope was dependent on my own emotional buoyancy, or more tenuous, my own faith. But the author of the letter to the Hebrews tells us that our hope comes from God. I don’t have to be the source; Jesus is my source.

\n \n

I have hope because God has hope for me, and God hopes greatly. He can see more than I can. He sees the greatness I don’t see in me. His hope resides in my heart and empowers me to endure when I’m ready to give up. It is impossible to run out of hope because He is an endless supply! Jesus, my hope-supplier, never grows weary. He always has new ideas, new mercy, more grace and love than I could ever exhaust.

His unshakable, inexhaustible love for me is my supply line. He supplies my heart with what I need for today. He gives strength for the challenge, to press through. “Keep going. You can do it. I’m here for you.”

About one week ago, I had the pleasure of being in Singapore as hundreds of people gathered for the In Pursuit Conference 2015! Here's a short recap of the first part of my trip—I'll be sharing more next week about my time in Indonesia.
\n
\nA number of pastors collaborated in hosting the conference, including Darren Tan (LifeUnited Church), Daniel Chua (The City) and Simon and Ping Chua (New Life Church). In partnership with these leaders, I spoke alongside a number of good friends and anointed ministers as we released the word of the Lord for this country. Pastor Simon had actually scheduled a conference for this same week, but he cancelled it and all of his conference-goers came in support of our joint effort. What a kingdom-minded friend! The atmosphere was so invigorating as we came together in adoration of our King!

We saw God move powerfully in healing! Best of all, several people gave their lives to Jesus! Praise God for all He's doing in this beautiful nation!

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples” (John 15:8).

\n \n

In this final post on John 15, we ask a straightforward question that this passage raises: What does bearing fruit look like? In other words, how do we know if we are being fruitful?

\n \n

Some people would suggest that the fruit Jesus is referring to is the “fruit of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22). That’s not a bad answer, but I don’t think that is specifically what Jesus meant in John’s Gospel.

\n \n

Rather, I think the fruit is more disciples. I say this because according to Jesus, abiding in the Vine looks like giving away the love that they have received—in other words, sharing and reproducing the life and love of Jesus into other people.

\n \n

What the disciples have received they are called to reproduce (which is, after all, the purpose of fruit on a tree). Fruit carries the seed that enables a plant to reproduce. Disciples carry the “seed” that enables them to produce more disciples.

\n \n

Remember: Converts are not the same as disciples (see my recent blog post on "Converts or Disciples?" here). Fruit isn’t about “soul winning.” It’s about reproducing the life of Jesus into others by first letting it be reproduced in ourselves. It’s about walking in the love of Christ and then giving it away so that it can be received by others.

\n \n

The question is not “How many people have I converted to Christianity?” The question is one of “Am I faithfully reproducing the life and love of Christ so that others can see it, receive it and reproduce it in themselves?”

\n \n

Prayer for Fruitfulness: Heavenly Father, let me love others as You have loved me. May the life of Jesus in me give life to those I encounter everyday, and may I bear fruit that glorifies You. Amen!
