ABOUT HROCK
At the Ambassador Auditorium

HRock is a biblically based, contemporary-style church that is an authentic expression of God’s love to our community. Our focus is to advance people closer to God in a practical way that brings wholeness to themselves, their families and the community at large.

Our story began when Ché and Sue Ahn arrived in Pasadena from Maryland in 1984 and planted “Abundant Life Community Church.” Ten years later, “Harvest Rock Church” was birthed through a prayer meeting with about 30 people in the Ahns’ home. During a four-year period starting in 1995, three other churches joined together in unity, focusing on seeing lives changed in Los Angeles. The 2500-seat Mott Auditorium became the home of our church where we hosted five nights a week of meetings for three and a half years.

Along the way, we launched an apostolic network of churches around the world called Harvest International Ministry (HIM) in 1996. Then in 2000, Pastor Ché and then Associate Pastor Lou Engle founded TheCall, an international prayer movement centered on fasting and prayer.

In May of 2004, we purchased the world-renowned Ambassador Auditorium, and we have called it home ever since. We thank God for this venue, which we continue to use for various aspects of our mission, including the arts. Overall, our purpose is to reach LA with the life-altering and sustaining love of Jesus Christ and to be a base that develops many congregations through our cell-group strategy.

Based on our desire to reach our community and provide hope in a meaningful and relevant way, Harvest Rock Church became known as HRock Church in 2010. Maintaining our core values, we have refocused our vision on reaching those around us with God’s love by “connecting community, advancing people closer to God."

Then in April of 2014, HRock Church, HIM and WLI united as three pillars under the umbrella of Harvest Apostolic Center (HAC). As part of an apostolic center, we equip and launch believers into ministry, and we provide a home base for itinerant ministers. HRock’s leadership, as with HAC, follows the Ephesians 4:11 pattern: We recognize apostles and prophets as the foundation and Christ as the Chief Cornerstone (Eph. 2:20).
